Reviewing concepts with the design team.

Sweet, Simple, and Small. Personal, Backyard, and Springtime…

These are the words that come to mind when I start to think about my ideal wedding. I’ve never envisioned myself having a big, fancy shindig. In fact, being relatively shy and somewhat introverted, the idea of a big wedding is really kind of scary!

So, since we both share the same views on the subject, my fiancé Ryan and I knew we wanted to keep it small. For us, it’s about a day to celebrate our marriage with our best friends and immediate family. Luckily, we both come from small, close-knit families and because that is so much a part of who we are, we want the wedding to be a reflection of our lives, our love and the relationships that mean the most to us.

Also, we both love the springtime, so we are thinking ahead to next May and hope to have the wedding in the backyard. (more to come on that topic!)

Although I’m very excited about the wedding process, it is overwhelming at the same time! But I have quickly realized I am not the only one with a bit of wedding planning anxiety. This article has quickly become my reminder list to help keep my sanity during this sometimes-insane time.

From the Mom:

My daughter and future son-in-law (boy, will I ever be glad to drop that “future” word!) have my total support. In fact, both families are in complete agreement. After all, it is Katie and Ryan’s special day – and it needs to be just what they envision.

That said, simple is not necessarily easy. It takes a lot of editing and focus to pull off a beautiful, personal affair, but we are up to the challenge! Stay tuned!

Wedding Advice Question #1:Do any of you have tips for keeping a wedding simple yet very special??? Please share!

Happy Birthday MotherThank you for being the kind of motherwho looks for rainbows on rainy days, who counts the wins but not the losses,

who heals with hugs, lights up with laughterand loves with her whole heart.

When I look at the world through your eyes,I see a beautiful place. With gratitude and love I thank you for that priceless gift, and wish you the wonderful kind of birthday you deserve.

Many of you may have met me through the Mother-Daughter blog series I participated in with my mom called, “Creativity in the Family” that was featured on the Kathy Davis website. I am a designer here at Kathy Davis as well as Kathy’s daughter. As some of you may have heard, I have recently become engaged to my best friend and long time boyfriend Ryan.

We are excited to begin this next chapter in our lives, but first we must plan a WEDDING! To me, the idea of wedding planning is both exciting and a bit overwhelming. So, so many details; flowers, officiates, location, date, guest list, colors, music, food, THE DRESS! The list could go on and on. Working here at Kathy Davis in such a creative environment constantly fuels my “bride brain” with endless inspiration. Keep up with the blog in the upcoming year, as I will be sharing some of my personal inspiration in planning my own wedding as well as cool trends and things I learn along the way. My posts will happen on Wednesdays, so stay tuned.

P.S. Your comments and advice is welcome and will be super helpful, so please feel free to share any ideas and feedback with me
