What do you call your “Mom”?
Generally, I call her Mom but I find myself referring to her and calling her Kathy at work.
What is your earliest childhood memory about your Mom?
I remember being an impatient child and I used to crawl into her bed while she was sleeping and try and pry her eyes open with my little fingers to get her to wake up. Weird, but true.
What is the most special moment you shared with your Mom?
I don’t think there is any one big MOMENT, it’s more the little moments that mean the most; spending time with family or walking on the beach or sharing a bottle of wine, etc.
What favorite things did you do with your Mom when you were growing up?
The obvious answer is art, we did a lot of that, but I would also say spending time in the outdoors, gardening or playing in the yard with our pets.
What things did your Mom make you do that you didn’t want to do?
She once made my brother and I go to a really weird summer day camp, it was awful. I still haven’t totally forgiven her for it.
How do you most want to be like your Mom?
She is the most ambitious person I know, I wish I had more of that in me.
Growing up, what is a favorite memory of your Mom?
I’ve said it before, but I really loved watching her paint, I still do.
How has your Mom impacted your life / What do you most admire about her?
Obviously, growing up in a creative environment was a big deal and certainly left an impact on me. My appreciation of nature and simplicity and human nature I can attribute to her.
What makes her better than any other Mom?
She has set a great example that working hard at your dream can absolutely pay off.
What’s the best advice your Mom has given you?
That life has lots of twists and turns and that setbacks and failures are not death sentences.
